More About Above Ground Pool Filters
Above ground pool filters are the unsung hero of summertime fun in the sun for anyone with an above ground pool. The above pool filter is basically a big stop sign that does not let particles such as pollen, dust, dirt tree bark get through and back in to your swimming pool.
In the Swim carries three different types of pool filters: cartridge filters, sand filters and diatomaceous earth (DE) filters. Cartridge filters tend to be the most popular with above ground pool owners. A heavy-duty, paper-like cartridge sits in the filter case and collects particles in the water. Once in a while you have to clean or replace the filter cartridge, which is rather easy to do.
Sand filters and DE filters do the same as cartridge filters, but in a different way. Sand filters use filter sand to capture dirt and particles, and occasionally you will have to backwash the unit to clear all the debris from the sand. DE filters use a powdered sedimentary rock media that grabs even the smallest (down to 2 microns) particles, highly effective and slightly more costly than other above ground pool filters.
